2nd March 2012

The Department of Health has confirmed it is to invest more than £100 million in health service clinical research facilities.

The funding will be provided by the National Institute for Health Research and will provide research nurses and technicians in 19 of the facilities around England. The DH website says: "A huge number of new treatments for conditions including cancer, diabetes, stroke, dementia and obesity will be developed by researchers at the facilities. Some of the funding will also be used to conduct research into rare diseases."
