£2m spent on first class travel

New figures have revealed that the Department of Health spent more than £2m on first class travel in the last year.

A total of £2,348,356 was spent on first class travel by ministers, officials and staff in the DH’s agencies between March 2009 and February 2010. The DH spent £7,908 on ministerial travel, £2.3m on civil servants working for the department while staff at the NHS Purchasing and Supply Agency spent £16,504, with staff at the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulation Agency spending a total of £7,573.
