£900 per day for boss

4th September 2008

An NHS trust has defended its decision to pay almost £900 a day to a recruitment company for a deputy chief executive.

Sue Barnett was hired on a temporary basis by the Worthing and Southlands NHS Trust, which has since extended her contract until October rather than make a full-time appointment. It has not been revealed how much of the fee of £65,338 the specialist company, Odgers Interim, gave Ms Barnett for her work. The TaxPayers’ Alliance said it was a shocking waste of money on a temporary appointment.
