'Abnormal' blood pressure not a health risk

New research by a group of doctors has suggested that there is nothing dangerous about an ‘abnormal’ blood pressure reading.

Writing in the Journal of General Internal Medicine, the group of researchers from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey conducted a 20-year study of 13,792 people and found that those with ‘abnormal’ readings are not risking their health, despite the prevailing medical view. Their findings revealed that diastolic and systolic pressures take on varying significance according to our age.
