Action to tackle nursing shortage

3rd December 2008

The Royal College of Nursing Scotland has warned that the country faces a nursing shortage unless action is taken now to address the problem.

Its report ‘Older …but wiser?’ reveals the challenges of the ageing nursing workforce and possible action. RCN Scotland is calling on the Scottish government to set up a national forum, which would include representatives of employers, nurses, professional organisations, trade unions and government, to try to address the threat of a future skills shortage by collecting nursing workforce data.
