Ad for healthy yogurt banned

14th October 2009

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has banned a TV advert which asserted that Actimel yogurt supported children's natural defences against disease.

The advertising watchdog said that claims in the advert that Actimel was "scientifically proven to help support your kids' defences" were not supported by evidence. Manufacturer Danone said it was "very disappointed" by the ruling and that its scientific claims were sound and based on a large body of evidence. The ASA investigation began after a complaint from a viewer.
