Adult mental health disorders

21st May 2006

The National Primary Care Development Team (NPDT) is running a national collaborative programme aimed at improving the care of adults with common mental health disorders in primary care.

It is being funded by the Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health and the National Institute for Mental Health in England (NIHME) with additional funding from the Working in Partnership Programme. The programme is also supported by the Director of Mental Health, Louis Appleby.

20 PCT sites have been recruited for the initial pilot phase via a national application process, with successful sites expected to be involved in a two year programme. It is then hoped to roll out the programme through all 11 Regional NPDT Centres to allow every PCT the opportunity to benefit from involvement in the programme.
