A&E death sees paramedic sacked

23rd August 2012

A paramedic has been dismissed and another has resigned following the death of a man who collapsed outside the A&E department at Walsall Manor Hospital.

Following the death of Carl Cope, 47, four staff from West Midlands Ambulance Service and seven from Walsall Healthcare Trust were suspended. It was claimed hospital and ambulance staff took no action to help Mr Cope - who had dialled 999 complaining of chest pains - while other staff and members of the public walked past him as he lay on the ground.
