A&E rush hour on Monday mornings

23rd January 2013

Latest data from the Health and Social Care Information Centre has revealed that Monday mornings are the busiest times in accident and emergency departments in England.

The 4,000 cases that present every hour between 10am and noon on Monday is twice the average. In general, late mornings show up as the busiest times in A&E departments, though Monday tops the list. Figures show there were 17.6 million A&E visits in 2011/12, which is up from 16.2 million in the previous year.
