Airedale hospital to pilot RFID

28th May 2008

Radio Frequency Identification technology is to be piloted at the Airedale NHS Trust.

The technology from Siemens Healthcare will be used to track 100 intravenous pumps across the trust, over a 30-day period. It will be the first time Siemens and Airedale have used RFID technology to track assets across various buildings using its new wireless network. Each pump will have an electronic tag attached to it for the pilot, which is aimed to help the hospital minimise the time taken to allocate a pump to a patient.
