Alarming rise in skin cancer cases

26th May 2009

According to new figures published by Cancer Research UK, the number of cases of malignant melanoma has risen to 10,400.

The rates of skin cancer in the UK have tripled since the 1970s.  Cancer Research UK's director of health information, Sara Hiom, said: "With the rates of malignant melanoma in the UK rising faster than any other cancer it's more important than ever that people are aware of the dangers of getting burnt, either in the sun or from using sunbeds."
