Alcohol misuse fuelled by confusion

The Commons public accounts committee has said MPs need to find out whether new guidelines are required so that the public can understand what safe drinking limits are.

Research carried out by the government showed that over three-quarters of people in the UK were not aware of how many units a large glass of wine contained. The committee said there was a "widespread and long-standing lack of clarity in the minds of the public" in relation to the current alcohol guidance.
