Allergies on the rise

Almost a third of the population will develop allergies at some point in their life, prompting calls for expanding and improving healthcare services.

The number of people admitted to hospital for severe allergic reactions has more than tripled in the past decade, said a Government review. More than 3,000 people were admitted in 2005 and around 20 of them died, said the report.
