Appeal for platelet donors

The National Blood Service has called for more platelet donors as their supply of platelets has fallen to a low level.

Platelets are used by the body to clot blood and need to be constantly renewed by the Service as supplies only remain usable for five days. Donor platelets can help up to three adult patients and up to 12 child patients.
