Author of abortion article receives death threats

2nd March 2012

Former Oxford University ethicist Dr Francesca Minerva, who co-wrote a controversial article that argued killing new-born babies should be as permissible as abortion, has reported receiving death threats over the paper.

The article argued that new-borns and foetuses were only “potential persons” and not “actual persons”, and has provoked a storm of protest. Saying recent days have been the worst of her life, Dr Minerva said the idea was not a proposal for law but was simply “pure academic discussion.”
