Average adult left wheezing walking up the stairs

31st March 2011

A study has found that the average British adult is so unhealthy they are left gasping for breath after just tackling a flight of stairs.

The Unfit Nation study questioned 2,000 people aged 18-65 on their levels of fitness. It found that just over half would opt for a lift when they have the option while just under a third feel puffed after only catching a bus, with 80% left sweating after jogging a short way, while 37% 'need a sit down' after mowing the lawn.
