Baby died after superbug hit hospital

31st August 2010

Four babies who died at University College Hospital in London were infected with the "gram-negative" bacterium.

The hospital said the bug was a factor in the death of one of the babies. A hospital spokesman said: "Development of antibiotic resistance is unfortunately a common occurrence for all neonatal units, even more so in units such as ours which care for the most premature babies."
