Barts opens £200m cancer centre

17th May 2010

St Bartholomew's Hospital in London has opened a new £200 million cancer centre which will provide patients with the latest treatments.

Doctors at the Barts Cancer Institute will treat severe cases of breast, bowel, pancreatic, ovarian and prostate cancer. Barts cancer director, Professor Nick Lemoine, said: "We can never be as complacent as to say we'll cure all cancer, but we believe we can, within 10 years, make it manageable, drastically reducing its impact on sufferers and their families."
