BHF Excellence Award

Dr Jacky Austin, consultant nurse in heart failure services at Nevill Hall Hospital in Abergavenny, south Wales, has won a British Heart Foundation Excellence Award for instigating and leading a cardiac rehabilitation programme tailored to the needs of heart failure patients.  Participants had an average of 11 hospital admissions and spent just 41 days in hospital, compared with 33 admissions and 187 days for those patients receiving standard care.
