Birmingham hospitals self-service kiosks

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is to install self-service kiosks in the reception areas of its new hospital to help streamline its reception and registration processes.

The kiosks have been developed with Blue Prism and could help cut the need for 20 or 30 receptionists in each area. Patients have already responded well to trials, with the kiosks being installed in the new hospital due to open in 2010. If a patient’s details are not correct on the kiosk, they can still be referred to a receptionist.
