BP pill to treat diabetes

4th September 2007

Researchers say that thousands of lives could be saved in Britain if a blood pressure treatment that costs as little as 50p a day was introduced to treat obese patients who have type-2 diabetes.

More than 11,000 patients with the condition were studied and it emerged that those who were on Coversyl Plus were 18% less likely to die from heart-related illnesses than if they were not taking the drug. The study was presented to the annual conference of the European Society of Cardiology in Vienna.
