Breath test to detect cancer

14th October 2008

Scientists at Swansea University are working on a device which could be used to spot early signals that cancer is present in the body.

The team are attempting to create a breath test with a paper strip which would show signs of cancer, although no trials have been started to date. Research leader Dr Masood Yousef said: "Different chemicals in an analysis of breath can make out particular types of cancer, diabetes, hepatitis and cirrhosis of the liver."
