Budget restrictions at Derriford Hospital

27th May 2010

The biggest hospital in Devon is facing major budget restrictions to reach a savings target of £27m.

All departments at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth have been ordered to make the savings without impacting on patients, according to a report to be presented to the hospital board. The document says the economic downturn and restrictions in the public sector are responsible for the need to cut costs, though bosses must make improvements and hit target savings without affecting the way patients are cared for.
