Call for complete ban of smoking in Wales

14th March 2012

The Cardiff-based cancer charity Tenovus wants an outright smoking ban in Wales.

Its plea came on the day smoking was banned with the grounds of most Welsh hospitals although the Welsh government has stressed that it did not have the power to introduce an outright ban in Wales. Figures show that 23% of the Welsh population are smokers - the lowest rate since records began - but still above the Welsh government's target of 16% by the end of the decade.
