Call for more air seat space

13th December 2007

The House of Lords Science and Technology Committee has called for a new minimum distance between seats on UK airlines in order to ensure passenger health and safety.

The committee report says limited space on some carriers may stop passengers properly adopting the brace position and is also concerned about the risk of blood clots in more cramped seating. It found that while most UK airlines meet the Lords’ recommended 30-inches pitch some, including Easyjet, do not meet that distance requirement on all seats.
