Call for right to die

28th March 2008

MSP Margo MacDonald has called for a public debate on assisted suicide in Scotland.

Mrs MacDonald, who is 64 and has Parkinson’s Disease, has said she wanted to have the right to end her own life if her health deteriorated, though she added she hoped it was a decision she would never have to make. But she believes terminally ill people should be given the choice of whether to end their lives, though the Scottish Government has made it clear it has no plans to change the law.
