Call for smaller wine glasses

30th January 2008

Liberal Democrat MP Greg Mulholland is planning a bill in the House of Commons which would force pubs, bars and restaurants to again start selling smaller glasses of wine.

The MP for Leeds North West wants to see the reintroduction of 125ml measures and argues that the current trend to sell wine in 175ml and 250ml measures means that drinkers are less aware of how many units of alcohol they are drinking. He said the trend was a concern with figures showing that alcohol-related health problems are increasing.
