Call for tougher warnings on alcohol risks

11th July 2008

Doctors at the British Medical Association's annual conference in Edinburgh have said "graphic images" of diseased organs should be put on cans and bottles to discourage people from drinking alcohol.

Dr Raj Nirula, a urologist at the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend, said double the amount of alcohol was being consumed since 1960 and added:  "It is becoming an epidemic. [The images] should be in pubs and on bottles, on every single drink."
