A new £14m cancer centre has been officially opened in Manchester with the aim to save more lives.

The Nightingale Centre and Genesis Prevention Centre is based at Wythenshawe Hospital and has a research team headed by three world renowned professors, Tony Howell, Gareth Evans and Nigel Bundred.

It will focus on prevention, screening and early diagnosis and is the first purpose-built breast cancer prevention centre in Europe. The centre will see about 500 women every week for diagnostic and outpatient services.
