Cardiac waiting times to be met

29th August 2007

New figures show that the NHS in Scotland is on track to meet new waiting times targets for heart patients.

Data from the Scottish Executive reveals the vast majority of cardiac patients are treated within 16 weeks from referral by their GP through a Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic to treatment. However the Grampian health board was one area where the six-month waiting time guarantee was breached.

Public Health Minister Shona Robison said she was encouraged by the progress but expected the Grampian beach to be resolved as a matter of urgency.
