Care package for early labour shortlisted for award

18th January 2010

Two midwives have been shortlisted for an award for their 'one-to-one' care package for women in early labour.

Maggie Davis, who came up with the package with Elizabeth Rees, said: "We are really pleased to have made it to the shortlisted top three with this project. We introduced it as a pilot across ABM between August and October 2009 and the outcomes are very encouraging. Not only have we had very positive feedback from the women who received the care, but midwives have also seen the benefits."

73% of women who were given the care package had a normal birth.
