Cerner for Newcastle

The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has successfully gone live with its new Cerner Millennium hospital information system.

The trust switched over to the new system with inpatients, outpatient management and with Choose and Book fully connected to the NHS Spine, in the first week of November without disrupting patient services. Its new Cerner Millennium system is being implemented under a contract with University of Pittsburgh Medical Centre (UPMC) and Cerner. Initially 1,000 staff used the system with that eventually expected to rise to 12,000.
