Chief exec quits troubled trust
27th February 2012Tony Halsall, the chief executive of the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust has confirmed he will resign from his post.
The trust is the subject of an investigation following the deaths of seven babies at the Furness General Hospital in Barrow in Cumbria. In a statement Mr Halsall said: "This has been an extremely difficult time for me personally and professionally. I believe that considerable progress has been made in recent months to address a number of issues the trust faces, but I recognise that it is now appropriate for the lead to be taken by a new chief executive."
