Children banned from hospital over flu concerns

7th January 2011

Health chiefs have banned children from visiting adult wards at Northampton General Hospital over fears they are more vulnerable to the flu virus.

Normal visiting times remain but a restriction of one visitor per patient is also in place. The move follows concerns that a surge in flu normally follows the return to work and school in January. The hospital is urging people intending to visit friends and relatives in hospital to stay away if they have flu-like symptoms or are otherwise unwell.
