Chocolate helps blood pressure

2nd March 2006

Dutch researchers say that older men who eat chocolate every day have lower blood pressure and a 50 per cent lower risk of early death.

The health qualities of the cocoa pod, known to contain antioxidents, were discovered by a team at Wageningen University in the Netherlands. The research, based on healthy men aged 65 and over who ate the equivalent of a third of a chocolate bar, or about 10g, a day, was published in the Archives of Internal Medicine.
