21st May 2008

Information about patients can now be accessed by clinicians at the bedside with the introduction of a new wirelsss system in Welsh hospitals.

The Princess of Wales Hospital and Neath Port Talbot Hospital, which are part of the Abertawe Bro Morgannwg (ABM) University NHS Trust in South Wales, are now using a new Cisco wireless Local Area Network (LAN). It means clinicians can access information about their patients electronically using wireless carts with PCs, laptops, and tablet PCs during their ward rounds.
