Civil servant appointed to prepare for Mid Staffs report

10th May 2012

Gavin Larner, the director of professional standards within the Department of Health’s workforce division, has been put in charge of preparing the government’s response to the Mid Staffordshire Foundation Trust public inquiry.

He takes up his new role ahead of the report by Robert Francis QC into the care scandal at the Mid Staffordshire, which is due to be published in October after having heard from 181 witnesses during 139 days of evidence. The inquiry focused on the problems at the Mid Staffordshire trust, where hundreds of people died as a result of poor care.
