Concern for 70 stone man

20th October 2009

Suffolk health managers are concerned about the arrangements involved in transporting a "super-obese" man to another part of the UK for treatment.

Paul Mason, from Chichester, weighs around 70 stone and needs hospital treatment to save his life.  Managers are considering whether to use a military helicopter to move him. An NHS Suffolk spokeswoman said: "We are trying to protect the patient at the centre of all this. He is a man who needs help and we have to be extremely sensitive."
