Contact lens solution recalled

1st June 2007

A contact lens solution has been recalled across the UK over fears that it could cause eye infections.

Problems were first spotted in the US over the product Complete Moisture Plus linking the solution to the painful eye infection acanthamoeba keratitis (AK). It was withdrawn from sale in the US following a warning from the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, with solution makers Advanced Medical Optics (AMO) recalling the product as a ‚Äúprecautionary measure‚Ä?. That moved has now been extended to Britain.
