Coroner slams NHS reforms

6th July 2007

A coroner has criticised the NHS for the "pressure" it put on a hospital manager who committed suicide by stabbing herself and jumping in the Manchester Ship Canal.

Morag Wilson, 32, was head of dietetics at Wythenshawe Hospital in Manchester. At an inquest into her death, South Manchester coroner John Pollard said it was sad that such a dedicated woman had "been reduced to this state of despair by the pressure come upon her as a result of the work she was involved in."
