Darzi denies privatisation of NHS

Lord Darzi has rejected criticism that his role is to privatise the NHS.

Speaking to the publication GP, the health minister and surgeon said: “We are not privatising primary care. The independent sector is a partner in the provision of primary and secondary care services.? He said it could be argued that GPs who run their own small businesses were a pseudo-independent sector but he stressed that aim was about “providing high-quality primary care, with good access, to those who need it.?
