Darzi did not consult with doctors

18th July 2008

Laurence Buckman, the Chairman of the BMA’s General Practitioners Committee, has claimed that the medical profession was not properly consulted in Lord Darzi’s Next Stage Review.

He said: “People were hand-picked in certain locations to answer the questions that were put to them by people who’d already made up their minds as to what the answers were going to be.”

A separate survey by the OnMedica website revealed that a majority of doctors support Dr Buckman’s view that the government ignored the views of medics in producing its review.
