Death rates to be published on the web

17th April 2009

The NHS is set to publish more information about death rates on its website to make it easier for patients to compare the success and failure of hospitals in England.

The Department of Health already publishes general ratings for death rates on the NHS Choices site for procedures including hip replacements but it is to extend that shortly to give much more specific information, allowing patients to compare local hospitals. The NHS says the move is part of a commitment to sharing more information.
