DH still negotiating with NHS Employers

8th April 2010

Already one week into the new financial year and the Department of Health (DH) is still negotiating its core contract with NHS Employers.

There remains tension over NHS Employers’ membership model, which was scrapped after failing to secure firm support from the DH, and foundation trusts are also believed to have ongoing concerns that the close relationship between the DH and NHS Employers does not reflect their desire for greater freedom over pay and contracts. Before signing the contract, the DH wants reassurances about Employers’ governance arrangements.
