Diaries logging health not kept

30th June 2006

Many patients in the US are failing to keep their own electronic or paper-based health records because they are simply unaware of the concept of doing so.  According to a survey undertaken by IDC's Health Industry Insights, over 80% of those surveyed have never used personal health records with over half stating that they had never heard of them.

Of those who do keep their own records, 90% use paper or word processors rather than specific health record products, highlighting the need for the PHR industry to better educate consumers about their products and the benefits of using them.
