Do you want to see inside your heart?

16th February 2010

The British Heart Foundation (BHF) has named the winner and runners-up of its "Reflections of Research" competition.

Scientists were asked to submit a video which showed their particular area of research. The winner, a video by Dr Michael Markl from the University of Freiburg, Germany and Dr Philip Kilner of Imperial College, London, used information from scans. It showed slow motion blood flow, which was given a colour to show where the blood came from. The images could potentially be used by doctors in heart simulations.
