Drive to curb drinking

A £100m government-endorsed campaign to discourage excessive drinking among young adults is being launched by the drinks industry in the UK.

The Campaign for Smarter Drinking, supported by 45 companies, is launched under the slogan "why let good times go bad?" and will emphasise practical tips for safe drinking. It comes as MPs heard more evidence on the use of alcohol in this country, although doctors still say increasing the price and reducing the availability of alcohol would be more effective than the campaign.
