Drugs mistakes admitted

NHS Tayside has made 539 mistakes in giving out medication since 2005, new figures have revealed.

The mistakes including giving the wrong drugs, bureaucratic problems and hold-ups in delivering medication to patients. A spokeswoman for NHS Tayside said: "Here in Tayside we are heavily involved in the Safer Patients Initiative which encourages reporting all incidents and near misses across all our hospitals so that we can learn from any mistakes and take preventative measures for the future."
