Dutch funding cuts contested

29th September 2006

The Dutch Hospitals Association is taking the health minister, Hans Hoogervorst, to court to try and halt a 200m (£134m) cut to their funding.  The cut was announced in the Netherlands' recent budget.

The cut is a result of hospitals agreeing with health insurers to treat an extra 300 000 patients in 2005. The cuts equate to 1.6%, or 2000 staff positions.
