E coli outbreak in Aberdeen

17th September 2007

Four cases of E coli 0157 have been confirmed in Aberdeen.

The outbreak centres around the four-star Atholl hotel in the city and it is thought that cold cooked meats from the venue could be to blame. Two further diners are waiting from results and NHS Grampian say that GPs have been warned to be on the look-out for symptoms.

NHS Grampian and environmental health officers from Aberdeen City Council are investigating the outbreak. The premises have been inspected and samples of food taken in order to identify the source of the infection.
